Cape Cod Bay Striped Bass Early June fishing Charters
Killin It Good Sport Fishing Charters, LLC Dennis Cape Cod Massachusetts June 5, 2017
Top water striped bass fishing is heating up in Cape Cod Bay. On June 4 the Killin It Good Sport Fishing team took a charter group out to Billingsgate Shoal where charter group were met by hundreds of striped bass feeding on sand eels on the surface in about 12 – 18 feet of water. They were not the biggest fish as they were all between 18 to 30 inches, but on light tackle and any type of lure that resembles a sand ell, you could have a blast catching and releasing over 100 fish in 3 hours. All while keeping anything over 28 inches for a great meal on the table! Don’t forget it still is one fish per person over 28 inches for striped bass and they are checking salt water license now so make sure you get yours today.
After the charter group was tired, with one hour left on the charter time frame, we decided to use some of those live mackerels that we caught earlier in the day to try and get some weight on Killin It Good rods with live baiting at the fingers. With multiple hook ups, 34 to 38 inch bass the Killin It Good team announced the next Striper would be the last. As we hooked up to a nice 12 lb 31 inch bass which is the only fish the charter group wanted to keep for a delicious meal.
I hope that the fishing in Cape Cod Bay stays hot through June as we all know by commercial striped bass season the fish will start moving up to race point as the fish move out to colder water until the NIGHT craziness happens.
Final numbers for the day:
Stripers caught: (22) 18-30 inches top water (5) 33 – 38 inch fish with 1 fish kept by the charter group
Water temp: 57 degrees
